We adopt a holistic approach to health at work and attendance management for our Local Authority Clients

It is estimated that sickness absence can cost councils around 3 per cent of turnover. More significantly, reducing sickness absence by one percentage point is equivalent to having 20,000 more people working in local government providing additional resources at no cost.

Team Prevent has worked very successfully with Local Authority clients around the country to introduce effective attendance management strategies. We start from the evidence based premise that the beneficial effects of work on physical and mental health and well being, generally outweigh the risks of work and the harmful effects of prolonged sickness absence (Waddell & Burton 2006) and that overall the presumption should be that staying at work or returning to work is beneficial, unless there is evidence to the contrary.

We adopt a holistic approach to health at work based on prevention and early intervention, through rigorous pre employment assessments, continually monitoring the effect of work on an individual's health where they are exposed to specific risks and working with our clients to encourage employees to take responsibility for their own health. We work collaboratively with HR and Recruitment Teams, Managers, Health, Risk and Well Being, Unions and Staff Support towards a targeted reduction in sickness absence an improvement in the overall picture within the organisation.

We have rigorous processes in place to assist our Local Authority clients with ill health retirement applications and appeals including Tier 3 and Teacher's Pensions.
